I’ve realized I enjoy writing novellas, a slice of life for secondary characters that appear in the main books. I like breathing life into them, giving them their own stories. At first, I wanted to release them separately and for free, but then I wondered if anyone would actually read them. They aren’t required for the series to make sense so maybe people would skip over them.
Then I had an idea. I read recently that adding the first chapter of the next book at the end of the book wasn’t popular. However, deleted scenes and extras were. So, why not include the novella at the end of the book instead? Even better, the novellas are meant to follow after a certain book which means it’s almost guaranteed it’ll be read in order.
What do you think? Good idea or not? Would you read a novella included in the book?
