crazycanuckbloghop

Welcome everyone. *waves* Come, sit, read, and enjoy. We have a great blog hop lined up for you, one that will introduce to you Canadian authors with a wide variety of genres, from young adult to paranormal to suspense and more.

My first love for reading came about because of Robert Munsch, a Canadian author who visited schools across Canada simply to read to the children and instill a love of books into them. I had the pleasure of listening to him narrate several of his stories when I was a kid. Even now I can still remember the yelling and laughing while he read “Mortimer” to us.

In fact, my kid loves his books as well. I can’t begin to count how many times I’ve read “Andrew’s Loose Tooth” and “Mmm, Cookies!” to him. And still he giggles through them.

As I grew up, I found my way into other Canadian writers, like Kelley Armstrong and Lynsay Sands, and they opened my eyes to the paranormal world. I have to confess, I love paranormal romance and urban fantasy. They make my jaded heart go pitter-patter.

Let me interrupt for a moment to give you some true facts about Canadians. Everyone already knows we live in igloos, ride dog sleds to work, and have polar bears roaming our backyard, so I’ll share some little known facts.

Fact one: We are amazing snugglers. It’s a matter of survival, more bodies means more body warmth. 😉 Do you have any idea how cold it gets in Canada? I do!

Fact two: We know how to accessorize snowsuits. Have you ever tried to make snowsuits sexy? Yeah, me neither. Instead we choose colourful scarves and toques. <- That’s hat for you non-Canadians. Bonus fact, when I searched for images for toques, they were almost all Canadian.

Fact three: We love experimenting. This is the deliciousness you get when you experiment. Mmmm…..

For those of you who don’t know, that is a poutine. Fries with cheese curds and smothered in gravy. Your life isn’t complete until you’ve enjoyed this small piece of heaven.

Fact four: We have a Maple Syrup mafia. I wish I was kidding, but we do. Maple Syrup is a serious business here. No picture for this one since I don’t want to join the Witness Protection program.

Fact five: BeaverTails are a thing and they are tasty.

The mouth-watering pastry that can be topped with cinnamon or Nutella or whipped cream. And now I’m feeling a mite peckish.

Let’s walk away from the food before I start chewing on my computer screen. Instead, we’ll talk about books again. A subject near and dear to my heart. After I discovered paranormal romances, I decided to try my hand at writing, since I had a story just itching to escape. One of the best decisions of my life as it introduced me to indie authors. I’d never heard this term before even with the amount I’ve read. I joined a few groups, met other authors, and realized how many hidden gems were waiting for me to explore.

Even better, a few of them are part of this blog hop with a book  available as part of the grand prize. Rosanna Leo writes both paranormal romance and contemporary. I’ve read some of her Gemini Island Shifters series and they’re great. Lisa Emme writes urban fantasy, a series I devoured.  Ashley Dooley writes romantic suspense while Cori Vidae has steamy hot stories. Marysol James dabbles in contemporary romance… I kid! She has an impressive list of books out.

I know what you’re thinking. “Hmm, I received gift cards for Christmas, whatever shall I do?” Well, do I have some fantastic advice for you. Buy one or two books from the authors on this blog hop and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
