Happy Monday, guys! Today’s interview is with Veronica Del Rosa, a woman who loves to write Paranormal Romances. I found her book, ‘Sylvia’s Torment’, to be an action-packed adventure with a surprisingly sweet side… and the love scenes were holy hot, y’all!

So, here we go:

When did you start writing? What was the first thing that you ever wrote?

I’ve been interested in writing since I was a teen. I’d actually convinced my parents when I was about 16 to pay for a creative writing correspondence course. I wrote several short stories that I’d submitted for grading. Looking back, they were terrible. Seriously terrible. The writing was, of course, juvenile and melodramatic. I learned a fair bit from that course.

Then life got in the way and I stopped writing until three years ago. I’d been complaining to my husband about a book where the plot drove me…

So share this post, share the coupons, and enjoy a paranormal romance/urban fantasy blend.

In case you were wondering why you should start reading this series, here’s what others are saying about it.

Throwing Away the Good ~ This novella was a great read! The story, plotting, world-building and characterization were very creative and original (which gets harder and harder to find once you’ve have read several dozen paranormal romance type books).

Magic Resistant ~ It’s not your typical paranormal novel and brings new ideas alive, making it different and more exciting than standard novels. The two main characters, Jackson and Julia are both intriguing and very different! Julia wasn’t one to break the rules until Jackson came along and taught her that sometimes you have to break the rules to get the answers you need.

Sylvia’s Torment ~ He’s a tough, unrelenting, shrewd leader who hunts down his missing lifemate with the same fierce tenacity that won him his position as the head of Toronto’s packs. But as you read on you discover Derek is a study in contrasts. Despite his icy facade and all that power, the tenderness and adoration he shows for his woman as she recovers from a horrific ordeal is a refreshing character trait for an uber-alpha male in the PNR genre.

Dawn’s Keeper ~ The playful interaction between Elijah and Dawn combined with their take-no-sh!t attitudes was refreshing, and the back story was fascinating. It is always wonderful to see favorite characters from the past as well. *coughMarcuscough* The action throughout the novel was well timed, and with all the plot twists, I found myself never getting bored. I definitely recommend this series- It’s a sure thing for a great read.

My Books

99 cent sale for this weekend

From March 27th to March 29th, I’m having a sale on Sylvia’s Torment, the second book for Enforcers and Coterie. Head to Amazon and check it out. If you love werewolves, Fae and magic, you’ll enjoy this. A wonderful blend of paranormal romance and urban fantasy. A review is always appreciated since word of mouth is so important for indie authors. 🙂

Second of the Enforcers and Coterie series, each one is a standalone book delving deeper into the world where magic co-exists peacefully with the ordinary, for the most part…

Abducted.
Tortured.
But not broken.

Derek wants Sylvia back–now. His Beta. His second-in-command. His lifemate. As a Top Alpha, few obstacles stand in his way. Even with near infinite resources at his fingertips, he feels useless. If he doesn’t find her soon, he’ll turn feral and destroy everyone in his way.

He waited to claim her…
Has time run out?

Three months since her abduction, Sylvia keeps a mental tally as day passes into night. Torture and endless rounds of experiments push her to the brink. Escape, rescue, it’s hopeless, impossible to obtain. Silver in the walls burn her, drugs keep her complacent.

If she escaped, would she be sane? If she came home a damaged werewolf, would her pack accept her…
Or kill her?

Bonus novella included: Unexpected Werewolf

Lori hadn’t expected her world to change. Go to work, avoid her asshole boss Ed and spend time with friends. Then he came into her life. With a few simple words , he altered everything. Could she accept the new and the unknown?

Review: Sylvia’s Torment by Veronica Del Rosa

It’s always nice to hear what others have to say about my work. Thanks Jen!

five star

sylvia's tormentSylvia’s Torment is the second book in the Enforcer’s and Coterie books by Veronica Del Rosa. As a follow-up to Magic Resistant (see my review here) it is absolutely fantastic. Veronica gave me this book to review and I am happy to report that it was five stars awesome. Veronica’s growth as a writer is evident, as is her commitment to writing strong characters that draw you in and make you want to know them inside and out.

Besides gushing about how wonderful this book is and without giving away spoilers, I want to say that Sylvia’s endurance to stick it to the bad guys who tortured her is one of the most compelling reasons this book is awesome. Derek’s ability to let her heal from her wounds both physical and emotional keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering if he is going to mess this up…

Hmm, what’s new with me?

Well, let’s see. No vacation coming up. No major life changing decisions made. It’s still really freaken cold outside. Oh, I know, my second book for Enforcers and Coterie has been published! *happy dance* I am so excited for this one. Oooh, and as a bonus (I feel like an infomercial telling you the extra goodies you get if you order now!), I’ve included a novella, Unexpected Werewolf, at the end of Sylvia’s Torment. A book and half for the price of one! 😉 Don’t worry though, no cliffhangers and each one can be read as a standalone.

Thanks to my absolutely amazing editor, Elizabeth, this book is immensely better than the first. Don’t believe me? Well how about these snippets from 4 and 5 star reviews?

“Fast-paced, never a dull moment in the entire length of this novel, and an excellent set of characters have been introduced. Out of all the characters, Sylvia is no doubt my favorite. Despite everything she went through, she’s still kickass. Derek, on the other hand, is delish. Ha!” ~ Katrina

“This was a GREAT read. LOVED Derek, hot sexy bad-ass Alpha with a heart—Hell YEAH! Sylvia was also wonderful, the trama she goes through and her journey back to herself is incredibly compelling. I adored these two together and I love the world Del Rosa has created. The Enforcers, the Coterie, the myriad of races and all their quirks, it’s awesome.” ~ Heather B.

“The sex…was phenomenal. It was straight to the point, no fancy words or imagery to get in the way of an amazing literary experience *cough*. Derek sounds like a wild beast in the bedroom, but I LOVED the twist that Veronica (the author) threw in there! I don’t want to give too much away because it was a very exciting experience.” ~ Heather S.

“The plot was exciting and moved at a brisk pace. There were numerous thrilling and violent showdowns between villains and the good guys, along with many sweet (and VERY HOT) scenes between Sylvia and Derek. ” ~ Erika

Now doesn’t that sound tempting, like an exciting book to snuggle into? It’s available at both Amazon and Smashwords.

Blurb for Sylvia’s Torment

Some days pulling the right words from my mind is difficult, tedious and time consuming. I weigh the words I use, if one conveys the idea better than another. I agonize over them, turning the image over in my head to make sure I haven’t missed anything. Does it show the characters in the proper light? Are they mad, happy or sad? Does the tone change due to this word instead of that one?

Nothing compares to the torture of crafting the perfect blurb. I’ve spent the last two days trying to write 126 words. The most perfect, insightful, intriguing blurb I can think of. To condense a full novel into a few short paragraphs, wow.

And so, here is the blurb for Sylvia’s Torment:

Second of the Enforcers and Coterie series, each one is a standalone book delving deeper into the world where magic co-exists peacefully with the ordinary, for the most part…

Abducted.

Tortured.

But not broken. Derek wants Sylvia back–now. His Beta. His second-in-command. His lifemate.

He waited to claim her…

Escape, rescue, it’s hopeless, impossible to obtain. Silver in the walls burn her, drugs keep her complacent. If she escaped, would she be sane?
